Another bed…

That’s the view from the apartment I’m staying in for 2 weeks until I get the keys to the new place. I say apartment but box is probably more accurate, I would show you the inside but I couldn’t actually get more than the bed in the shot as it’s that small. The block is a tall but very slim building in the University district of the city. Not that far from the shop in Parnell, but the walk involves a steep valley. The whole city is built on a load of extinct or dormant(!) volcanoes. Now I know why everyone drives in Auckland. Either that or you get fit quick…

The apartment is new and clean, which suits me. I’m not really there much. It’s not really big enough to be a one bed apartment, but I have to share my toilet and kitchen (the hallway) with another room. Not bumped into them yet, but managed to bump into their bike while looking for the light-switch last night.

The University District has some of the oldest, and impressive, buildings in Auckland. The Uni is actually in the top 15 in the world, with around 30,000 students and plenty of new buildings going up. I’ll get some photos up on happy in the next few days.

Here comes the Sun

After a week of shocking weather, rain and cold, woke up this morning to find blue skies and beautiful sunshine. You can feel a huge difference in temperature when walking from shade to sun. It’s getting really cold at night, probably as cold as UK winter nights, but as soon as the sun comes up so does the heat. I’ve been told this is pretty unusual for Auckland to be this cold, so hopefully thats the last of it!

Managed to speak to Mum today on the phone, was nice to catch up. Starting to miss family and friends, but safe to say not the UK! Went to lunch with James and his Mum, Bronwyne, so at least I have a surrogate family here in New Zealand…

Please keep adding those comments, nice to hear from everyone. Just added the count-up timer from when I landed in Auckland (thanks Ben for the idea). Thinking of adding another section to the menu for people who are planning on coming out and a count-down timer to when they plan on arriving.

A Catalytic Attack…

New Zealand Skies

Store Party

DC Shoes held a shoe launch at the store in Auckland last night. Corona on tap, beats, and girls girls girls:

Not a bad turn out hey ;p

Photo Shoot

The Photo-shoot for the next round of Catalytic Ads took place last night at the store. Gary brought in a load of his vinyl (think original pressings of classic 80s Hip-Hop and Electro)

Geena and Beth came in to model the Girl’s brand Married to the Mob:

Look’s like I’ve a flat sorted for six months, get the keys on the 10th of July,so you can all come and visit…

Hit Auckland nightlife for the first time, had a couple of guides (above) who shall remain nameless…
The destination? A place named Show-Girls, no explanation necessary, but it made for a memorable night. Also checked out a local hip-hop crew named Kollab who the store sponsers. Place was heaving, making the most of that english accent…

Welcome to Auckland
