happy medium

This has been pretty much my life for the past month. It’s been good fun, but so much work for one person to do. After Solly keyed all the footage, I did all the comps, camera moves, animations, lighting, lens flares, grade etc. Mission.

Really chuffed with the outcome. I wanted to do a full music video like this, just to prove to myself I can do it.

The track is called Nesian 101, by Polynesian Band – Nesian Mystik. They held a release event at a Samoan house/hall in Auckland which Luke and I and attended. It was great to see the crowd reaction to the video (they loved it), as you often don’t get to see big group reactions to your work. Made it all worth while.

Well these past few weeks have been pretty hectic – I’ve moved from the flat at Victoria Park to a Villa in Ponsonby. I’ve been wanting to get into an old Auckland Villa since moving here although I’ve picked the wrong time of year to do so and these old houses get really cold at night. Really happy with my room, patio doors opening out onto decking and it gets most of the sun from morning to mid-afternoon. Flatmates are great too, but I’ve actually spent hardly anytime there since moving in as I’ve been working round the clock pretty much every day on the new music video for Polynesian group Nesian Mystik. I’ll throw up some screen grabs as soon as. Here are some more photo of the villa:
