This weekend really reminded me of Leicester, as Diwali (Der-waa-lee as Kiwis mispronounce) was celebrated here in down town Auckland. There&#8217;s actually a far larger Indian population than I first realised. After having a superb Indian meal from Oh Calcutta in Parnell (which would stand up to anything Ive had on Leicester&#8217;s golden mile), I headed down to the Britomart where the celebrations were being held. Loads of food stalls, two stages, big crowd - of course nothing to the scale of Leicester but a little taster of home on the other side of the world. [...]</description>
